Racket Spec Lab

Change a racket's shape, balance, core, weight or face and see how our stats formula responds. It's the same formula behind every racket score on the site.

What the lab shows, and what it doesn't

Each control is one of the categories our formula actually uses, so there are no fine sliders pretending to more precision than the method has. Weight is grouped into three bands for the same reason.

  • Shape moves control and sweet spot the most: round is the most forgiving, diamond the most powerful.
  • Balance towards the head adds power and costs speed and control.
  • Core feel: harder cores add power and cost comfort and a little sweet spot.
  • Weight adds power and stability and costs speed; above about 355 g it starts to cost comfort.
  • Face: carbon adds a little power and costs a little comfort compared with fibreglass. "Not listed" is treated as neutral.

Real rackets play differently from any formula: string pattern, frame, grip and your own technique all matter. Use the lab to understand the trade-offs, then use the racket finder or the racket stats page to choose a real one. The scale stops at 10, so two very powerful rackets can both show 10 even if one is a little more powerful.
